Diseases can occur at any stage of a woman’s life that can be prevented or detected in good time with gynecological treatment. You should therefore go for a check-up at least once a year. The pension content varies depending on the age group.
Preventive care for a 20-35 year old woman
Detailed medical history + gynecological examination:
- Inspection and vaginal palpation
- Examination of cell changes – cervical smear (PAP smear or ThinPrep), additional HPV test if individually indicated
- Chlamydia examination (costs only covered up to the age of 25)
Breast cancer screening:
- Up to the age of 30: No preventive check-ups provided by statutory health insurance funds
- From the age of 30: breast palpation
- For indication: Mammography

Preventive care for a 35-50 year old woman
Detailed medical history + gynecological examination:
- Inspection and vaginal palpation

Breast cancer screening:
- Palpation of the breast
- For indication: Mammography

Provision for a 50-55 year old woman

- Examination of cell changes – cervical smear (PAP smear or ThinPrep) and HPV test (every 3 years)
Breast cancer screening and colorectal cancer screening:
- Palpation of the breast
- Start of mammography screening (every 2 years)
- Immunological stool test (test for blood in the stool)

Preventive care from the age of 55

- Palpation of the breast
- Mammography screening (every 2 years) up to the age of 70
- Immunological stool test (test for blood in the stool) every 2 years
- Colonoscopy recommended

The HPV vaccination does not cover all HR-HPV types, so even after the vaccination, annual cancer screening examinations from the age of 20 are still essential. Only the regular Pap test from the age of 35 in combination with the HPV test offers reliable protection against cervical cancer.
