Fine diagnostics, also known as fine ultrasound or detailed ultrasound, is performed in the second trimester of pregnancy to provide a comprehensive and detailed assessment of the health and development of the fetus. Our high-resolution ultrasound equipment and experience enable us to examine the unborn child’s organs in much greater detail than with conventional examinations in accordance with maternity guidelines. We also offer fetal echocardiography, fetal neurosonography, Doppler sonography and 3D/4D sonography to assess the unborn child’s physical development, placenta and feto-maternal vascular supply.

The examination can also measure the amount of amniotic fluid to make sure it is within the normal range. Too much or too little amniotic fluid can indicate problems. The position of the placenta is assessed to ensure that it is not positioned unfavorably in relation to the cervix or other structures. Fine diagnostics also make it possible to monitor the growth of the fetus and ensure that it corresponds to the expected pattern. Fine diagnosis is an important examination to detect possible abnormalities or developmental problems in the fetus at an early stage. It also provides parents with an opportunity to understand their baby’s health and development in more detail. If anomalies or abnormalities are detected during the fine diagnosis, this may require further diagnostic tests or specialized care.

Fetal echocardiography

6-8 out of 1000 children are born with heart defects. With the help of fetal echocardiography, many heart defects can be diagnosed or ruled out before birth. Thanks to years of experience and state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment, we can offer you advanced heart diagnostics of the foetus as early as the first trimester of pregnancy, but especially in the second trimester, even though the heart is only very small at this stage.
Intrauterine therapy for heart defects, also known as fetal heart intervention, refers to medical measures used to treat congenital heart defects in a foetus. This form of therapy is usually only performed in specialized medical centers and requires a careful diagnosis to determine if the heart defect is severe enough to warrant intervention. In some cases, fetal heart intervention may also involve minimally invasive surgery in which a catheter is inserted into the uterus to treat certain heart defects. For example, balloon angioplasty may be performed to widen a narrowed heart valve or treat pulmonary artery stenosis. In some cases, fetal surgery may also be required to correct certain defects.

It is important to note that not all heart defects can be treated prenatally and that the decision to undergo intrauterine therapy must be carefully considered. The risks of treatment must be weighed against the potential benefits for the fetus and the mother.

Fetal neurosonography

Fetal neurosonography is a medical examination method in which the developing fetus in the womb is examined in detail for possible neurological abnormalities using ultrasound waves.
For special questions, we offer a detailed examination of the

Our experience shows that the three-dimensional sonographic images of the fetal brain can help neuropaediatricians in further consultations. These ultrasound images are similar to the sectional planes of an MRI and therefore support the interpretation of malformations.
